Midwest Telepsychiatry Consortium
In recent years, healthcare organizations across the metropolitan Chicago area have experienced a growing number of patients with behavioral health issues presenting in their Emergency Departments (ED). Patients with behavioral health issues are among the largest contributors to emergency department overcrowding and patient boarding, resulting in prolonged patient wait times, delayed care, adverse outcomes and negative financial impacts. In addition, population management of behavioral health patients is becoming a necessary strategy in the evolution of new models of care.
In response to this growing need, the Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council (MCHC) has partnered with InSight Telepsychiatry, LLC, a national leader in telepsychiatry services, to offer the Midwest Telepsychiatry Consortium. Midwest Telepsychiatry Consortium provides healthcare organizations a new solution for the management of behavioral health patients both in the ED and across the continuum of care through increased access to psychiatric evaluations and follow-up care with a menu of services ranging from crisis to inpatient telepsychiatry.
