MCHC Offers Clinical Faculty Academy for Nurse Educators
Are you interested in becoming a nurse educator? If you currently have your master’s degree in nursing or are currently enrolled in a master’s program, you are qualified to teach in an associate or baccalaureate degree nursing program.
Teaching as an adjunct faculty member is a great way to enhance your career and help prepare the next generation of nurses. Most schools throughout the state are looking to hire part-time and full-time nurse educators. Open educator positions can be found at www.nursing.illinois.gov.
The Clinical Faculty Academy (CFA) is a great resource for both new and experienced educators. The program is a two-day skill building program for registered nurses serving as clinical faculty members in local nursing programs, and is approved for 12.5 Clinical Nursing Education contact hours through Saint Xavier University School of Nursing. The CFA will enhance the skill set of seasoned professors, as well as provide new faculty members with the skills and resources necessary to become quality nurse educators. The mission of the CFA is to develop qualified master’s prepared nurses for the role of clinical nurse educators in order to increase faculty workforce, which will help to expand and sustain enrollments in schools of nursing.
There are three upcoming Clinical Faculty Academies in Illinois. Please visit www.mchc.com/events to register; August 5-6, 2010 at West Suburban College of Nursing (Oak Park, IL); August 11-12, 2010 at Illinois Central College (East Peoria, IL); and September 14-15, 2010 at Man-Tra-Con (Marion, IL). Program sponsors include Elsevier and the Illinois Center for Nursing.
