(CHICAGO) June 14, 2010 – The Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council (MCHC) elected six new board members and four officers during the MCHC Annual Meeting on June 11. MCHC is a membership and service association comprised of more than 150 hospitals and health care organizations working together to improve the quality of health care services in the metropolitan Chicago area.
Officer Appointees
Dennis A. Reilly, president and CEO of Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Centers (Evergreen Park), has been elected to serve as chairman. He succeeds Bruce C. Campbell, senior consultant for Advocate Health Care. He is a 35-year veteran at Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Centers, previously serving as nurse manager, vice president of physicians’ services and director of management information services. In 1996, Reilly was elected vice president of Little Company and appointed president and CEO Sept.1, 2000.
Barry C. Finn, president and CEO of Rush-Copley Medical Center (Aurora), has been elected to serve as chairman-elect. Prior to becoming CEO, Finn served Rush-Copley Medical Center as the senior vice president and chief operations officer. Previously, he served as the senior vice president at Centegra Health System in McHenry, Ill., and had served as the senior vice president and chief operations officer for the Northern Illinois Medical Center, also in McHenry.
David L. Crane, president and CEO of Adventist Midwest Health and Adventist Hinsdale Hospital (Hinsdale) has been elected to serve as treasurer. Crane previously served as president and CEO of Littleton Adventist Hospital in Littleton, Colorado, has an extensive healthcare leadership background, much of which has been within the Adventist Health System. Other institutions for which Crane has served include St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center and Mercy Health Partners in Toledo, Ohio, and Centura Health in Denver, Colorado.
John DeNardo, CEO of the University of Illinois HealthCare System, has been elected to serve as officer-at-large. Prior to joining U of I, DeNardo served as director and CEO of the Department of Veterans Affairs Edward Hines Jr. Previously, he spent four years as director and CEO of the West Side VA Medical Center. He was also associate director and chief operating officer of the Lakeside VA Medical Center in Chicago for six years.
Board Member Appointees
Trisha Cassidy, president of Gottlieb Memorial Hospital (Melrose Park) and senior vice president of Loyola University Health System has been elected to serve a three-year term. Prior to becoming president, Cassidy has served Loyola University Health System as senior vice president of system development and strategy and vice president for managed care.
Brad Copple, president of Kishwaukee and Valley West Hospitals (DeKalb), has been elected to serve a three-year term. Copple has been with KishHealth Systems for 22 years, previously serving as administrator of Kishwaukee and Valley West Community hospitals. Prior to joining KishHealth, he held leadership positions at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital.
William Foley, CEO of Cook County Health and Hospitals System (Chicago), has been elected to serve a three-year term. Previously, Foley served as an independent contractor with Huron Consulting Services as well as interim CEO of Natividad Medical Center in Salinas, Calif. He was also president and CEO of Provena Health from 2001-2006.
Kurt Johnson, president and CEO of Ingalls Health System and Ingalls Hospital (Harvey), has been elected to serve a three-year term. Johnson has been with Ingalls for 23 years and also served as vice president of administration, senior vice president and chief operating officer. Previously, he was the associate executive director and chief operating officer with American Medical International, Inc.
Susan Nordstrom Lopez, president of Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center (Chicago), has been elected to serve a three-year term. Previously, Lopez served as the president and CEO of St. Anthony Medical Center in Crown Point, Ind. She also held leadership positions with several hospitals throughout Chicago. Lopez sits on the boards of the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago Service Corporation and the Chicago YWCA.
James Witt, president and CEO of Provena Mercy Medical Center (Aurora), has been elected to serve a two-year term. Witt was previously system vice president of clinical integration with Provena Health. He also held consulting positions with William Mercer & Co. and Chicago-based Ernst & Young.
Completing their terms on the Board are Bruce C. Campbell, senior consultant, Advocate Health Care; Alan Channing, CEO of Mount Sinai Hospital; Jim Frankenbach, past chairman; Brian Lemon, CEO of MacNeal Hospital; and Paul Pawlak, president and CEO of Silver Cross Hospital.
