MCHC to Launch Virtual Resource Center
(Chicago, Ill.) June 22, 2010, The Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council (MCHC) is launching a new program that will redefine the trade show business and provide a virtual resource for health care professionals in the greater Chicago area. The MCHC Virtual Resource Center (the Center) goes live on July 1, 2010, providing the hospital community with virtual access to trusted vendors, product information and other solutions, including education.
“Technology continues to present a myriad of opportunities to enhance the way hospitals operate,” said Kevin Scanlan, MCHC’s President and CEO. “For years, MCHC has produced successful vendor fairs and educational events, bringing together key health care buyers within our membership with local and national industry vendors. And while we will continue these activities, MCHC now also offers this innovative technology which will allow our members to streamline their operations, enhance productivity and improve the bottom line.”
The goal of the Virtual Resource Center is to provide a high-tech and interactive Web-based platform that is a source of trusted information for health care professionals to learn about current products and industry updates. Members can visit virtual vendor booths to obtain information from vendors as well as interact with vendor representatives through a variety of communication channels. They also have the ability to download information as needed or link to other sites of interest provided by the vendor. There is no cost for MCHC members to gain access and vendors have the opportunity to participate for a nominal, annual subscription fee.
The Center provides member hospitals with virtual access to quality health care vendors, product information, expert educational content and other resources while never having to leave the comfort of home or office; they can visit the Center at any time; 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
In addition to the convenience of the Center, this new online tool allows members and vendors to save money on transportation and other expenses associated with attending local and out-of-town events, an important benefit during these challenging economic times.
“As social networking and online communities rapidly continue to grow and expand, the Center is a natural way to help our members connect to the vendor community in an efficient and cost-effective manner,” said Ron Michalak, manager of MCHC’s Group Purchasing Services, who has more than 20 years of industry experience in the health care market. “This tool is an integral part of our members’ overall cost containment and cash flow improvement strategy as it connects parties instantly without the need to travel or meet in person. With hospitals’ growing need to economize, save time and shop for the best value, the Virtual Resource Center provides a unique solution.”
